Well don't you think I know that?

No. No you didn't see the way she looked at me. I've seen that look before and I know what it means... Or what it used to mean.

No, not a trace. We went deep into the wild country, as far as the foothills of the eastern range.

We got lost. We didn't know where we where. The landscape is so barren and featureless save for a few stunted, swollen trees.

Yeah we saw those too. Deep spiralling tunnels that form strange patterns but no sign of the shifted earth.

You don't believe those stories do you? The ones the mother tells to scare the children?

Either way our window is closing they say these plains will be three metres deep in snow by the next moon.
